Rangers hero Nacho Novo hailed fierce Celtic rival Neil Lennon the "nicest I ever met" following the funeral of Gers legend Fernando Ricksen. Lennon recently attended the funeral of Ricksen, who died last week following a courageous battle with motor neurone disease. He also paid an emotional tribute to the Dutchman, hailing how he "put up an unbelievable fight". And on Friday, Novo thanked the Hoops boss for his tribute. He shared a picture of the Northern Irishman on Instagram, writing in a caption: "Just need to say to people, I met him a few times and (he) is the nicest boy I ever met. "I have so much respect for him too, a guy who is a winner RESPECT. Also Celtic, for Fernando, thank you." Tributes flooded in for Ricksen from both sides of the Old Firm, despite their Glasgow rivalry that is known around the world as one of football's most ferocious. Following Ricksen's death, Lennon said: "It's tragic. "I am very, very upset for his family obviously, for someone who I played against in many battles in a time when both teams were very, very strong in Glasgow, in a very good era in Scottish football. "And for the Glasgow public to lose him at such a young age is devastating. He put up an unbelievable fight. "As a player he got better and better in his time at Rangers, to the point he became player of the year. He turned out to be an outstanding footballer, a great competitor. "He was emotional to start with in his career but he really matured into a very fine player. "Our condolences go to his family and Glasgow Rangers as well.
